Mineral make-up, as discussed by Lucire ’s beauty columnist Nicole McKinnon as being the hot new trend back in 2006, has continued to be a staple, especially on the catwalk at Air New Zealand Fashion Week. At Verge, Nikki Lovrich, head make-up artist for the Jane Iredale team at the Verge show, gave the models a high-glamour look ‘with deep smoky eyes and subtle barely there lips,’ according the company.

Products used included the following. For eyes: Jane Iredale Smoke Gets in Your Eyes winter ’09 palette, Gold and Rose Gold 24 ct Gold Dust for highlights and Jane Iredale Liquid eyeliner for the 1950s’ look. For the face: PurePressed mineral bases and Amazing Base loose minerals. For cheeks: In Touch cream blushers in Connection (peach pink) and Con?dence (deep red). For lips: PureGloss in shades of Wild Apple and Melon....

In the second, Moyano creates a green, smoky-eye look, again using the Kohl pencil. The Ombre Absolue Mono eye-shadow has a green–black, as does the Hypnôse Precious Cells mascara. A skin-colour Absolue Rouge is used this time, completing the look. The techniques are similar, but the shades differ to suit each model.
